GM Engineer Tess Baughman Drives Chevy Cruze Diesel 900 Miles On One Tank
The Chevrolet Cruze diesel is one of the most anticipated cars arriving later this year at Jeff Gordon's Award Winning Chevrolet Dealership in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Cruze's official EPA figures are rated at 46 mpg highway and 27 city, for a combined rating of 33 mpg.

The Cruze is equipped with a 15.6 gallon gas tank, and that 46 mpg should be enough to get you over 700 miles at highway speed. But one GM engineer has gone even farther, with an eye popping 900 miles on a single tank. According to Tessa Baughman, a GM Energy Engineer in a recent You Tube video , she maintained her speed at at 5 mph under the posted speed limit on a recent family visit to Arkansas. That 900 miles works out to 58 mpg!

Not everyone will get nearly 60 mpg from their Chevy Cruze diesel, however if you  look at the EPA's fueleconomy.gov site it isn't unusual to see diesels exceeding their EPA ratings.

Jeff Gordon took another top 5 finish with a well deserved 2nd place in the LifeLock 400 at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday. Jeff finishes 14th in Charlotte

A rain-shortened Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC gave Jeff an unlucky 14th place finish. He had much the better car during the race and was unlucky to finish 14th. The rain delays and pit stops put Gordon back in traffic only to see the red flag eventually come out and end the race. He is still ranked No.1, 44 points ahead of Tony Stewart. Fellow Hendrick Motorsports teammates Dale Earnhart Jr., Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin finished 40th, 13th and 17th.
