Chevrolet Camaro Outsells Mustang And Challenger

The Chevrolet Camaro sold more units last month than the Ford Mustang or Dodge Challenger in muscle car sales. The Chevrolet Camaro moved 6,675 coupes and convertibles in August 2012.

The Ford Mustang sold 6,387 units last month and the Dodge Challenger moved 3,311 units.

Overall, the muscle car segment has moved 156,073 coupes and convertibles - an increase of 10% over the 141,649 units sold in the first 8 months of 2012.

Chevy Racing Renews Chevrolet’s Battle Against Breast Cancer

Chevrolet Racing renewed Chevy‘s fight against breast cancer by contributing $200 to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative for every lap run under the caution flag at the Atlanta Motor Speedway during Labor Day weekend.

On Friday, August 31, 30 breast cancer survivors and their guests had a blast at Atlanta Motor Speedway by riding around the track in the Chevy Camaro SS pace car with Team Chevy NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Jamie McMurray and four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion Ron Hornaday Jr. In addition, Danica Patrick — of NASCAR Nationwide Series fame — stopped by for a visit with survivors for photos and autographs.

Then, on Sunday, September 2nd — during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Advocare 500 — Chevy donated $200 for every lap run under the caution flag. The race was paced by a pink Chevy Camaro SS adorned with Making Strides Against Breast Cancer logo. In total, there were six caution flags for 31 caution laps, which comes to $6,400 in donations to the American Cancer Society. Last year, there were 64 caution laps, netting $12,800 in donations.


October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and Chevrolet brand is expected to announce additional brand, dealer, employee and consumer activities in support of the American Cancer Society and Making Strikes Against Breast Cancer later in September.

Chevrolet Unveils 2013 Nationwide Camaro

Camaro, the top selling sports car in America, will make its series debut next February at Daytona International Speedway.


Chevrolet announced on Thursday morning that it would make the shift from the Impala to the Camaro nameplate for NASCAR Nationwide Series competition in 2013.

"Chevrolet is proud to bring the Camaro to the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2013," Vice President of Chevrolet Performance Vehicles and Motorsports Jim Campbell said. "The Camaro Nationwide race car incorporates many of the distinctive styling elements of the production Camaro, including the unique power bulge hood and deep recessed grille. In addition, the design incorporates the distinctive halo light rings and dual-port grille appearances and gold bowtie."

Chevy leads the Nationwide series in wins, manufacturer standings and driver points standings.
