The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Has Arrived at Jeff Gordon Chevrolet

The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is a small car with aggressive, youthful design in five-door and sedan models. Don’t let the size fool you though! The 2012 Chevy Sonic is spacious inside, offering class-leading rear-seat roominess and cargo space!

“The all-new Chevrolet Sonic blends the practicality of a small car with the passion for driving that Chevrolet vehicles like the Corvette are known for,’ said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. ‘Its combination of great design, fun driving experience and the latest connectivity features create a serious competitor with a fun spirit.”

The Sonic is offered in two body styles: a stylish four-door sedan and a sporty five-door

“Chevrolet is the only company building a small car in the United States,” said Perry. “We believe the Sonic will bring substance to the segment with progressive styling, performance and value that will change perceptions of what a small car can be in America.”

The 2012 Chevy Sonic offers two engine choices: a standard Ecotec 1.8L paired with five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions and an available 138-hp, Ecotec 1.4L turbo engine with six-speed manual transmission.

All 2012 Sonic models come with a MacPherson strut front suspension with coil springs and stabilizer bar.

Safety features of the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic include ten standard air bags, StabiliTrak, power-assisted front disc, four-channel anti-lock braking, pretensioners minimize forward movement, LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children), tire pressure monitoring system, and strong body structure to absorb crash energy.

The ten standard air bags include side curtain air bags, designed to provide head protection for outboard passengers in the event of a side-impact or rollover crash.

The four-channel anti-lock braking comes standard and incorporates electronic brake force distribution that balances braking performance based on such factors like road conditions and the weight of passengers and/or cargo.

Also standard on all Sonic models is the OnStar feature. The OnStar feature uses GPS as well as cellular phone technology to automatically call for help in the event of crash. Subscribers to OnStar can also use the service to be Good Samaritans by sending help to other motorists, and to call for help in other non-crash emergencies. The service offers six months of complimentary OnStar Directions and Connections service with Turn-by-Turn Navigation for easier route guidance.
